Hello Kanab Middle School Parents and Students,
This is Mr. Bateman, principal of Kanab Middle School. Welcome to KMS-Home of the Regulators! I hope each of you is having a wonderful summer! We look forward to starting the new school year and have some key dates/information as we get closer to starting.
Online Registration (Both registrations are required)
Online registration is open starting August 1st and located on Aspire/SIS at https://kane.sedck12.org/Students/Register/Start
All parents with KMS students will need to re-register and verify the information to ensure the accuracy of phone numbers/addresses and to fill out the necessary forms. It is very important we are updated this includes new addresses and emergency contacts. Our district will be using the parent notification program, Blackboard. As student information is updated, please make sure to put a cell phone as the primary phone number if possible. Text notifications for notification and emergency purposes can be used with this new system, but an identified cell phone number will need to be listed as the primary phone number.
Walk-in Registration (Both registrations are required)
Everyone will also need to come to our school to get the necessary lockers, pay school fees, and have a tour around the different classrooms (7th Grade and new students).
Dates/Times: 8th-grade registration will be on August 8th and our 7th-grade registration will be on August 9th. Times for both days will go from 8:30 am-3:00 pm.

Immunizations:
All students coming into the 7th grade this year will need to have all their immunizations up to date and current before they can register for 7th grade or fill out a record of exemption from immunizations. The requirements for immunizations for the 7th grade are both varicella shots, Tdap booster, and meningococcal. Our local health department, clinic, and local pharmacies have access to these immunizations. This year there will be a special clinic on August 3 at the Southwest Health Dept. (445 N. Main) from 10-11:30 am and 1:15-3:30 pm Bring your child, immunization record, and insurance card when using this option. The clinic is also available by appointment on other Wednesdays. Please do not put off immunizations until the last minute, as sometimes vaccines are unavailable. The number of the health department is 435-644-2537. Shana Chavez will be happy to help you with any questions or information you may need.
Lunch Applications
Free Lunch is no longer available for all students and requires an application and approval process. We encourage everyone to fill out the online lunch application forms. Please be sure to do this! Forms need to be completed on a yearly basis. Only one application is needed per family within the school district. The link to the forms is found in your Aspire/SIS portal under your child’s profile.
Fee Waivers
Please note, that there is a new process for all Fee Waivers. Those who qualify for waivers will need to meet with the administration, bringing in proof of income (W-2/Tax forms) for this verification process in order to be approved. Fee waiver forms will be available at registration.
Back to School Night
Please be sure to save the date of August 23 on your calendars. More info will be sent out as we get closer to this event.
School Website
Check out our updated school website for more information at http://kms.kanek12.org. It is mobile-friendly and contains many resources such as our new school schedules, the school calendar, lunch menus, educational links to websites, plus many more items.
